I connected myself to such a device as Smart TV player Moyo.tv. I will say that I really like watching videos directly from the Internet, it’s very convenient and most importantly it’s fast and doesn’t slow down, and I advise you to try it, you won’t regret it. I don’t need any additional settings, I’m tired of all the constant wires that I can’t connect correctly.

There is a lot of advertising everywhere, but the result is a poor quality image and a bad signal, you constantly need to flash the tuner, there is a lot of red tape and no sense, after a couple of months repeat again, the satellite, as they say, is always churning. At the most interesting place the signal disappears and it’s really annoying. If you, like me, are tired of all this, then I recommend this player to you. He easily copes with these problems. It does not overheat and I can watch my favorite channels and programs for a long time. Convenient to use and not bulky, it fits on a regular table where there is a TV.

Dust is not so visible on it and I can easily wipe it with a dry napkin and it’s still like new. The convenient remote control is clear and accessible. The yellow plus sign on the remote control is easily recognizable and you can immediately see what kind of player it is. There aren’t many buttons on it so it’s not distracted by other unnecessary buttons, which also means that everything is easy in switching channels. The sound can be adjusted to be quieter and louder, you can zoom in on the frame, everything is great. You can also turn off the sound altogether. Advantage: built-in WiFi 802.11n module. Fast wireless internet connection. The Moyo service uses streaming technology. Streaming is the streaming of video over the Internet. In this case, the video is not downloaded to a TV or tablet or anything else, but is broadcast directly to the screen. Moyo works wherever there is Internet, regardless of which provider. At least go visit him, or even move around Russia. The player connects to the Internet via WiFi or wire. All you need to do is enter the password on the TV screen. No special settings. Internet connection speed requirements are 3 Mbit/s for standard definition video (SD) and up to 5 Mbit/s for high definition video (Full HD).Language: Russian Ultra compact Wi-Fi TV set-top box. More than 100 TV channels. Online cinemas. Thousands of thousands of movies for free! And this is very cool.

The website does not contain questionable information and can be used by minors as well as in a work environment.

AMD is expected to continue to be the primary supplier of key SoCs for next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Previously, various leaks and rumors have repeatedly indicated this: both Microsoft and Sony confirmed work on new systems, and the latter even assured that the PlayStation 5 can be expected in 2020. But so far there has been no official information about AMD’s participation in these projects.

However, in a recent conversation with CNBC, AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed that her company is working with both Sony and Microsoft on next-generation consoles. Moreover, the head noted that, by analogy with chips for Xbox One and PS4, new AMD solutions for both companies will be different and include “secret ingredients” created for a specific system. We can talk about special blocks: for example, allowing to overcome the main disadvantages of cloud games in the future Microsoft system. At least AMD, following Microsoft itself, recently mentioned that Xbox Next is being created with cloud services in mind.

On this moment There is information that the processors for both consoles will most likely receive Zen CPU cores instead of the weak Jaguars in the current consoles. At the same time, the graphics for the PS5, as rumored, will be based on the AMD Navi architecture, which itself could largely be the result of collaboration with Sony engineers.
Assuming that the current rumors are true, it is safe to say that the CPUs in new gaming platforms will become much more powerful. When developing the PS4 and Xbox One, Sony and Microsoft engineers used relatively weak processors, compensating for this fact by making the integrated graphics more programmable and less dependent on the CPU due to low-level graphics APIs. The success of these platforms, as well as many hits including the latest Spider-Man on PS4, has proven that consoles can indeed deliver great gaming graphics.

Today, the Xbox One X remains an excellent gaming system, significantly outperforming any equivalent $500 computer. This was especially true during the cryptocurrency boom, when GPU prices skyrocketed and the PC gaming market took a hit. However, it's worth remembering that the Jaguar cores were developed many years ago as an alternative to low-power Intel Atom netbook processors. The result was some annoying performance quirks on the Xbox One and PS4, such as huge L2 latencies when reading from one 4-core CPU cluster to another. And for outputting graphically rich projects in 4K resolutions or at 60 fps, the weak processor of modern consoles very often becomes a bottleneck. And the next systems will be aimed specifically at 60 fps.
Cross-cluster cache latencies on PS4 are bad enough that companies have had to develop innovative methods for storing data locally while simultaneously keeping the GPU running continuously.
Cross-cluster cache latencies on PS4 are high enough that companies have had to develop innovative methods for storing data locally while simultaneously keeping the GPU running continuously.
In turn, CPU cores with Zen architecture were not only designed to compete with the most powerful Intel Core processors, but also perform well in already released single-chip systems that include Vega graphics and are limited in power consumption. As a result, we can hope that the new consoles will be devoid of most of the bottlenecks associated with insufficient performance of CPU units.
If Sony and Microsoft want a true eight-core SoC (as opposed to essentially two separate four-core clusters in the PS4 and Xbox One), they can use Ryzen. The significantly higher efficiency of these chips compared to Bulldozer or Jaguar means that both companies will be able to keep power consumption quite low while delivering fundamental performance gains. In terms of operations per cycle, Ryzen outperforms Kaveri by 1.52 times (even though the latter beats Jaguar by another 1.15 times in terms of IPC). Don't forget about new technological norms: 2020 consoles can count on at least 7nm, and even 5nm, chip production.

Without knowing the details of Navi, it's hard to speculate on what GPU capabilities the new systems might gain, but chances are the gains here could be significant. Since 2012, AMD has been using, by and large, the same basic GCN architecture, gradually refining it and linking it to the current generation of consoles. It is in Navi that the most important architectural innovations are expected - that is, by the release of PS5 and Xbox Next, the PC market may also receive fundamentally new video cards and AMD graphics technologies.
By the way, there are persistent rumors that in addition to Microsoft and Sony, Google is also working on its own gaming console - its solution should be built around cloud games. Microsoft is allegedly going to release two separate Xbox Next consoles - a traditional one that runs games locally, and a cloud one.

Last September Apple company introduced the AirPower wireless charger, a feature of which should be the ability to recharge three gadgets simultaneously. Initially, Apple announced its intention to begin selling AirPower in 2018, but the new product has not yet appeared on the market. Now rumors have begun to circulate that the project may be scrapped altogether.

The fact is that at the September 12 presentation of the latest iPhone Xs and Xs Max smartphones, as well as Watch Series 4 watches, not a word was said about the AirPower station. Moreover, network sources noticed that all mentions of AirPower have disappeared from the Apple empire’s website.
Last summer, Bloomberg reported that AirPower sales should begin in the third quarter current year. But this period is coming to an end, and nothing has been heard about the charging station entering the market.

Observers conclude that Apple could shelve the AirPower project or even cancel it due to the difficulties encountered. One of the problems previously mentioned was the need to use a large number of components to ensure simultaneous charging of different gadgets, regardless of their location on the surface of the station.
The Apple empire itself does not comment on the situation.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reports that the atmosphere on Mars in the area where the Opportunity rover is located is gradually clearing of dust. This means that the rover will soon have a chance to resume work.

Let us recall that at the end of May this year, the Red Planet was covered by a colossal storm, due to which Opportunity’s solar panels were unable to generate energy. As a result, the rover went into emergency mode, in which all subsystems are disabled. The last time the rover made contact was on June 10.
As NASA now reports, Opportunity's solar panels will soon begin to receive enough light to generate energy. However, it is not yet clear what state the robot is in. There is a possibility that it will simply not be possible to bring the onboard systems back to life due to prolonged downtime and hypothermia.

Experts say that if Opportunity does not contact within 45 days, the active phase of returning the device to life will be completed. Over the next few months, NASA will continue to passively wait for signals from the rover.
In any case, Opportunity has already exceeded its service life many times over. This robot has been on the Red Planet since January 2004, and its mission was initially designed for 90 Martian days.

It would be great:

  • watch only what is currently interesting to you
  • and collect it all in one place - on your own TV.

Like a civilized person, lounging in front of a giant screen with a remote control and in his favorite chair.

There is an obvious need, but it is not easy to satisfy in Russia. Even with all its advantages, it instantly fails when it comes to domestic specifics.

It seems that so far it has been possible to combine the previously incompatible only in the Moyo TV set-top box (), with the creators of which we talked face to face. It’s interesting how to get on a simple TV at once a recording of broadcasts, a video on demand, a recommendation system and... yes, all the delights of VKontakte.

All the secrets of Moyo TV and how their service works

Answered editor's questions Andrey Kholodny, CEO of Moyo TV - the only TV set-top box in Russia that is tailored to the real needs of Russians, including you.

How did the idea of Moyo TV come about? Did you rely on any project or was the idea original?

It would be correct to write something about global experience, analytics, and so on.

But everything is simpler - we sat down and began to think through in detail the answer to the question: “How do we see a product that entertains us on a large TV?” And we immediately came to the conclusion that it should combine both TV and Internet resources.

Knowing that there is an unrealistically large amount of content (on three hundred TV channels and on the Internet), we decided that search and recommendations are the only way not to overwhelm the viewer with a wave of content.

Can you briefly describe the essence of Moyo TV? In human language.

Easily. This is an online player that connects to any TV and the Internet. With its help, you can watch what interests you - from football on live television to the next episode of a series on the Internet.

Did you manage to conquer the market quickly? How many consoles were sold in a year?

To conquer the market you must have it. We are creating it. Before us, there was no such product on the market. Even on Apple TV, applications appeared later than ours. By the way, our devices have been sold in Russia bigger than Apple TV fourth generation.

What is the difference between Moyo TV and just smart TVs or online cinemas?

There are several advantages. The first is accessibility. Smart TVs are quite expensive and quickly become outdated. Plus, usually Smart TV is the “main” TV in the house, and there is also one in the kitchen, bedroom and country house.

Moyo TV makes any TV smart, if there is internet. And the player costs only 4,900 rubles. Second, and most important, is ease of use. To find a specific movie on Smart TV you need to go to the application, search in it, exit it, open the next one, search there, etc. Not to mention trying to find something going in live. On Smart TV, applications live on their own.

Moyo.tv is different - a unified search between applications and a recommendation system allow you to find and watch what is interesting, without being tied to a specific service or online cinema. If you are looking for a movie or program, all online cinemas will be included in the search. If what you are looking for is not found there, the system will try to find it on YouTube or Vkontakte.

How does your personal recommendation system work? What data does it rely on?

Based on viewer behavior data on our platform. What programs did you watch, what did you like (we call it “mine/not mine”), what trailers or descriptions did you linger on.

Is it possible that the recommendation system will create an information bubble outside of which I won’t find anything?

It's just the opposite. You don’t need a great mind to recommend the next episode of the series to the viewer. But to show him something that would be interesting to him, but he didn’t know about it - that's our trick. And this is what captivates the viewer and creates delight. I hope BMW hasn't patented this phrase?

I know there is an editorial office that selects content. How is its work structured, what is its result?

Moyo TV: The editors are our special pride. Very different people who are in love with what they do and know how to write about it. Yes, with their own eyes they look at a simply unrealistic amount of content, reviews, articles, reviews.

They themselves prepare texts and screenshots, which then appear in the product and on our social network accounts. At the same time, it is important for them to navigate not only the latest movies and TV series, but also important events on TV. From the biggest matches to a live opera star concert.

From left to right: marketing manager Svetlana Kozodaeva, general director Andrey Kholodny, director of marketing and sales Vanda Dmitrieva, director of product development Georgy Prutkovsky.

You promise, I quote: “Search by name through anything and everything.” How's that?

I accidentally came across the first season of Comedy Club in our product, which aired more than 10 years ago. Nostalgia. And then, telling his son about the chameleon, he showed how it changes color after finding a video on YouTube.

Actually, we're talking about this- by collecting the largest video services on the Moyo TV platform, we give the viewer access to the maximum amount of content that is easy to find.

You permanently store 7 days of airtime from hundreds of TV channels. How is this implemented technically?

We haven’t grown enough to have our own data center. We rent space in several data centers, plus we are very confused about connectivity with providers.

Well, and most importantly, all the services that are available on our platforms use their own methods of delivering content. So we combine our own delivery to ensure the operation of our platform and TV service with the delivery systems of our partners.

What internet speed is enough to use Moyo TV without restrictions?

5Mbit/s is quite enough.

What capabilities does your multiscreen system provide - viewing from the iPad screen, as an example.

We are just beginning to develop the multiscreen option. Currently, the application only gives access to TV channels to which the player is subscribed. And even then, alas, not to everyone - some copyright holders are resisting.

We synchronize Amediateka between screens. To be honest, the task is not the most trivial - technically, the Amediateka platform is quite complex for deep integration.

Through Moyo TV, can you watch everything on VKontakte, or are there any restrictions?

Access to everything VKontakte video is already open to all Moyo TV player owners participating in beta testing. The question about music has always caused a lot of controversy within our company. We decided to get the answer to this question from beta testers. The results showed that part of the audience requires this functionality. We will discuss implementation methods with VK.

At Moyo, we pay a lot of attention to the convenience of our service. In our opinion, it’s better not to do it at all than to do something that will irritate you every second.

The television screen and remote control are not the most advanced devices for interacting with the interface. That is why the VK application in MoyoTV is not an adaptation of some tablet application, but a VK client assembled from scratch and adapted for the remote control. You have to think about how to adapt a music service for a remote control and a TV screen.

How do you look at the fact that the amount of unlicensed content on VK is going through the roof? Is there an official position?

Moyo TV is a platform. We are not responsible for what content is available on any given service on our platform. At the same time, I see that we are doing very necessary work - often a user who is trying to find a new movie on VKontakte and comes across another “screen”, gives up and buys a legal copy. We will organize a convenient transition to paid video consumption.

After beta testing of VK support is completed, the audience of your service will grow. What's next?

We'll just turn one year old in October. We will release a deep update to our product based on that feedback, which we received from users, both in direct form and in the form of behavior analytics.

We will continue the battle for the perfect user experience. For example, let's completely switch to a new interface.

What's the bottom line and how to try Moyo TV yourself

Moyo TV is the solution, if not all, then the absolute majority of the problems that we, hunters of interesting content, face. We do not need terrestrial television channels, program schedules in newspapers and other attributes of the last century. There is no need for set-top boxes, so obsessively advertised by Internet providers.
