Red Forest: The scariest forest in the world. Red Forest: The Scariest Forest in the World Red Forest Stalker Wiki

Red Forest Map

Not to be confused with the Radar location. See below for more on this.

red forest- a large location from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, located near the center of the Zone. The Red Forest is the last non-linear and free to explore location in the course of the story: after moving to Limansk, there is no way to return to the previous locations. The prototype of the location is the so-called "Red Forest", which existed in the real Chernobyl exclusion zone.

The old Lesnik, who once protected this place from poachers, lives in the building of the pile driver, who did not leave the forest after the Chernobyl accident and did not die after the formation of the anomalous Zone. He talks about the constant disappearances of stalkers in the reserve, as well as about the "Bubble", which he once fell into while being in the Red Forest. The territory of the anomalous reserve is fraught with many dangers: the forest is teeming with mutants of various species, and anomalous zones are extremely common.

In the Red Forest, there is a struggle between singles and mutants for a couple of key points, and the Dolgovtsy, located in the north of the location, periodically repulse Freedom's attacks from the Military warehouses. In addition, several places in the location are controlled by renegades who, according to the plot, must be destroyed.

Places

Old marque

Old pile driver

In the north of the location, behind the reserve, there is an old brick pile driver, which was once used to lift and lower loads into the mine. The structure is represented by a two-story main building with an elevator shaft and an auxiliary structure, where, obviously, the motors that raise the elevator are located. Construction debris is lying around the pile driver and many containers are idle.

On the second floor, the Forester settled in a closet, to whom, according to the plot, Scar should get with the help of a spatial anomaly. You can climb the stairs to the top of the pile driver, where there are many boxes of ammunition and medicines.

Barracks in the mine

In the north of the location, east of the gate leading to the pile driver, there is an entrance to a large mine. In it, in addition to several passages with dead ends, there is a large room that looks like a warehouse or barracks. By breaking the boards in the floor in front of this room, you can get to the lower tier of the mine, represented by a large underground hall, a toilet and a passage dug to the upper level. The appearance of a player in the lower part of the mine will provoke the appearance of two poltergeists there, only after the destruction of which will the exit to the top open through a dug passage. Downstairs in the toilet, you can also find Bulldog-6, but you can only get there with good protection against chemical and electrical anomalies.

Initially, the mines are occupied by renegades, but during the "Find the Compass" (?) mission, they must be destroyed. Immediately after this, the mine will be occupied by a detachment of Duty, one of whose fighters will become a merchant. Also associated with this place is the secondary task "Experimental Device".

Tank and Teleport (Wild Path)

Tank in the forest and an anomaly above it

In the north-west of the location, behind the Symbiont anomaly, there is a Soviet tank in good condition, and above it is the Teleport spatial anomaly, moving from here to the old pile driver. According to Lesnik, the tank appeared in the Red Forest after the Big Ejection. It can be assumed that the Teleport, located directly above the military vehicle, was the reason for the appearance of the tank here.

According to the plot, Scar must pass to the spatial anomaly above the tank in order to get to the Forester's hideout. In the turret of the tank you can find a Tank machine gun, which must be found during the quest "Return the item: Tank machine gun".

Among other things, the "Dashing Path" point, located near the tank with the anomaly, often serves as the spawn point for Snorks moving towards the "Damn's Parking Lot" and the "Mutant Lair".

Bridge to Limansk

In the northwest of the Red Forest, an extremely radioactive river separates the tunnel to Limansk from the reserve. The only known way across the river is a lifting metal bridge with a control panel on the shore from Limansk.

According to the plot, the bridge is raised and controlled by renegades, located on the coast from the side of Limansk in the fortifications. The only way for Scar to get into Limansk is to rescue a detachment of mercenaries from the Spatial Bubble in the area of Limansk. After receiving help, the mercenaries leave the anomaly on the coast of Limansk and attack the positions of the renegades in order to lower the bridge for Scar and the Clear Sky squad. As a result, the bridge is lowered, and the renegades are forced out of their fortifications.

Places of little importance

  • Tunnel to Radar. The tunnel in the southwest of the location, which leads to the Radar. According to the plot, the Shooter passes through it and undermines it in order to stop the pursuit of Scar behind him.
  • Gateway to the reserve. A passage through which you can get into the forest in the south of the location. The gates are closed at the moment of chasing the Strelok and open with the advent of the task "Go to the SOS signal". You can also enter the forest through a gap in the wall near the bridge.
  • witch circle. A point on the outskirts of the forest, originally occupied by a detachment of loners. Subsequently, it will be attacked by mutants.
  • Rookery of bloodsuckers. An unremarkable place participating in the war of loners and mutants, except that you can meet a bloodsucker here.
  • mutant lair. A small mine in the center of the Red Forest, through which you can get to the Symbiont anomaly. Several snorks live in the mine.
  • Damn parking lot. A small parking lot next to the Symbiont anomaly. Here, according to the plot, a detachment of singles can pass along with Scar. A pseudogiant walks around the anomaly.
  • Privateer's camp(approx. - pile driver). Camp Duty near the gate, allowing you to leave the forest and get to the pile driver. However, the gate is closed, and Scar is forced to get to the pile driver through a spatial anomaly. After talking with the Forester, the gate opens.
  • Camp by the road. Equipped checkpoint, occupied by duty. This place can be attacked by Liberty from the Military Stores.
  • Stalker bed. The point in the south, where the Lefty squad will be located after the release from the anomaly.

Location settlement

Characters

  • The forester is an old forest ranger who lives in a pile.
  • The shooter is the game's antagonist encountered during the course of the story.
  • Leshy is the leader of a squad of mercenaries stuck in the Bubble.
  • Ambush Stalker - A stalker involved in an ambush on Scar.
  • Raven is a Freeman who can go to the Red Forest along with the Freedom squad from the Military warehouses.

Groupings

  • Duty . The fighters of the group occupy the "Camp at the privateer", controlling the gate to the reserve in the north of the location. After the destruction of the renegades in the mines by Scar ("Barracks in the Mine"), the Duty squad will take them. One of the fighters, sitting at the table in the mine, will begin to trade in overalls, cartridges and other things. Also, several units are located near the transition to the Military warehouses, protecting the location from Freedom.
  • Freedom . Sometimes units move from Military warehouses.
  • Renegades. A large detachment is stationed in the mines, from where Scar must be knocked out. The renegades control the bridge across the river to Limansk, being on an inaccessible shore. During the story, they will be destroyed by Clear Sky fighters and mercenaries.
  • Loners. Several detachments of singles are initially based at the location, but in the event of their death, singles in the Red Forest will no longer be found. Squad One defends the "Witch Circle" from mutants; the other, located at the "Dark Yar" point, is waiting for Scar to make his way to the Devil's parking lot near the Symbiont anomaly. Also, several stalkers in the story participate in an ambush arranged by the Shooter for Scar.
  • Mercenaries. A group of mercenaries, leaving the spatial anomaly on the shore from Limansk, attacks the positions of the renegades in order to lower the bridge for the Clear Sky fighters.
  • Clear sky . According to the plot, the fighters of the group, together with Lebedev, cover the mercenaries from the fire of renegades on the bridge to Limansk.

Mutants

The reserve at the location is full of all sorts of mutants that reappear almost immediately after their destruction. So the point "Lair in the forest" serves as a haven for several psi-dogs and pseudo-dogs at once. "Damn Parking" and "Mutant's Lair" are favorite places for Snorks, who often come here from the "Dashing Path" point. The point "Bloodsucker Rookery" got its name for the bloodsucker constantly appearing here. In the "Dog Parking" - a den of blind dogs, in addition to this, dogs and pseudo-dogs are sometimes found in other parts of the location.

Also, the Red Forest is a unique habitat for the entire game for some mutants that appear on the location only once: a pseudo-giant walks around the Symbiont, and several poltergeists can be found in the mines in the north (“Barracks in the Mine”).

anomalies

Almost everywhere in the location there are pockets of radiation, often coupled with anomalous fields Electr and Voronok. Almost in the middle of the Red Forest is the largest anomaly S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Clear Sky - Symbiont. In the lower tier of the mines in the north (“Barracks in the Mine”), acid anomalies occupied a large area.

In addition, the river separating the Red Forest from Limansk is extremely radioactive. Direct contact with water instantly kills the player.

The plot and secondary quests at the location

Plot

Main article: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Walkthrough: Clear Sky

Scar's mercenary is led to the Red Forest by the pursuit of Strelok, who is heading through the tunnel to Radar, having obtained psi-protection from Sakharov. Scar almost manages to catch up with the enemy, but he ambushes the main character, and then blows up the tunnel, making it impossible to follow the tracks.

Lebedev informs Shram that now they will have to break through Limansk to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and for this it is necessary to penetrate the river along the drawbridge, which is raised and controlled by renegades. According to him, a local resident, Lesnik, can help with this. With the help of the Forester, Scar manages to rescue a detachment of mercenaries from the spatial anomaly, which appears on the shore from the direction of Limansk and attacks the positions of the renegades in order to lower the bridge for the Clear Sky detachments. The forces of the group from the Swamps arrived in time, along with Scar, meanwhile, cover the mercenaries from the shore of the Red Forest. As a result of the battle, the units of Clear Sky with Scar break through to Limansk.

  • Near the tank and the spatial anomaly, among several corpses of stalkers, you can see the body of Father Valerian. However, if you return to Cordon, then the leader of the singles will be alive. Probably, this miscalculation is connected with the planned quest or is a simple random error.
  • In reality, the Red Forest was destroyed as part of the aftermath of the 1986 accident. Its gaming counterpart was untouched.
  • If you approach the closed gate in the north of the location before moving to the pile driver with the help of a spatial anomaly, then one of the debtors will approach them, but the dialogue will be prevented from starting by the closed gate. At the same time, there is an unused dialogue in the game archives, which, apparently, refers to this Duty fighter. In it, the character explains why he cannot open the gate to Scar (he is afraid of the influx of mutants from the forest), and also offers to clear the mines from renegades in exchange for opening the passage.
  • The developers systematically made a mistake in naming the Forester's hideout by writing "marque" instead of the correct "copper".
  • In the English localization of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the Radar location is called "Red forest".
  • After the destruction of the poltergeists at the lower level of the mine (“Barracks in the Mine”), one of the debtors will periodically go down there to search for artifacts among chemical anomalies.
  • The liquid in the mug on the Forester's table constantly rises and falls, like the fluctuation of the water level in a river.
  • Despite the fact that the Warehouses are located to the south of the Red Forest, the passage to them is carried out from the northernmost point of the Red Forest.
  • Many Elektra anomalies are located right on the power lines in the north of the location.
  • Rarely, the anomaly Symbiont can be found

The lake and the Yantar plant will appear to you in a pitiful semblance of their former grandeur. From a huge lake, Yantar turned into a swamp overgrown with reeds and teeming with zombies. Finding yourself at the location, you immediately plunge headlong into a whirlwind of events. Scientific base, bent under the onslaught of zombies. The stalkers defending the science base won't last long. Only your immediate help can save the situation. There is an entrance to the base on both sides, which is what the zombies use, it is they who must be killed for the further passage of the Stalker Clear Sky, and, if necessary, to finish off. The main feature of zombies is their low movement speed, so grenades for their destruction are more effective than for other opponents. Local zombies can give you a lot of information on caches, the search for which will make the passage of the game Stalker Clear Sky more diverse.

After the battle, you can go into the building to Sakharov, who is in the middle of the bunker. In short, Strelok is well known to Sakharov, because he decided to test and adjust the device for blocking psi-radiation (brain burner). For tuning, he went to the factory, but did not return. To follow him, you need to get the stalkers out of trouble, who have information on psi-radiation.

Sakharov has the best stocks of ammunition, first-aid kits and the maximum price for artifacts, but he doesn’t buy weapons. You need to get out of the base and move west, then follow the arrow. With outstretched paws, you will be met by a psi-dog, local balls and zombies. After running in the direction on the map you will find dead stalkers: take special cartridges, PDA.

To the west is an anomaly with an artifact.

There is a very useful artifact on the northern side of the swamp, but the damage from anomalies is very high. This artifact will provide protection from radiation, which will come in handy when passing the game Stalker Clear Sky.

The way back will not be easy either. When you return, the base may well be overrun by zombies. If the door to Sakharov did not open, then not all zombies were forever calmed down. To continue the passage of Stalker Clear Sky, you still need to get to Sakharov.

After analyzing the documents, the professor will report that the emissions at the plant are the result of the operation of the installation, the cooling system of which has gone out of control. You and Lefty will have to return everything to its previous state.

Lefty's group is located right in front of the plant, the first part of the way you will just need to help in the cleanup, after which Lefty will give an order to you and another stalker to cover the group from the roof of the hangar. After you take up positions on the roof, it's time to work as a sniper: first you can clean out the yard, then the roof opposite. After the timer runs out, you will be informed that the psi radiation has stabilized, and more importantly: the Shooter is on his way to the Red Forest.

In the hangar to the east of the building where you fired back, you can find a very expensive artifact.

You will also find another artifact to the east of the building where you shot the populations of local zombies.

If you climb into the buildings where the zombies came from, you can get a little supplies, but very high damage from telepathy.

After walking around Yantar, go chasing Strelok. This chase will take place at the Red Forest location.

RED FOREST

Here he is the Shooter, right in front of you, it remains only to catch up, but ... The Shooter runs quickly, like a hare, and when there is already a little bit left, you will be ambushed. When the opponents are dead, the Shooter will be out of range: the tunnel he runs into will soon be blown up, so it will be impossible to go through it.

If you run after the Strelok, passing through the opponents "on first-aid kits", it is impossible to slip into the tunnel.
Now, according to Lebedev, the only chance to continue the hunt is to get to Limansk, but the bridge to the city is under the control of bandits. The further passage of Stalker Clear Sky consists in finding a certain Forester who can lead you to Limansk, or explain the way. Forester, located on the outskirts of the Red Forest.

The path to the Forester will be long. You will receive an SOS signal from the stalkers, who will most likely be dead by the time you arrive. One of the stalkers will have a PDA that you need to take. Near the dead stalkers there will be a stand with a "modified" map of the Red Forest, which will not help much for the passage of Stalker Clear Sky, but is of great artistic value.

If you go from them to the east, then after 150 meters there will be strong radiation and anomalies, including 2 good artifacts.

According to the CCP's information, there is a spatial anomaly in the center of the forest through which one can reach the Forester. Arriving at the next point, you will be met by the local fauna, after turning it into flora, a group of stalkers will appear, with whom you need to continue on your way. But .. First, with the help of a guide, you can go to repair armor, weapons, and its modifications. If you have not yet modified Vintar, then at the base of Freedom you will be happy to do this operation. Just make sure that you have enough money for the way back, because you will have to move with transfers. Your station is the Red Forest. Dark Yar.

To continue the passage of the game Stalker Clear Sky, go to the head of the group. An ejection may well begin, in which case look at the map and run to the shelter, but the inhabitants of the forest, who are by no means peaceful, will want to take cover there. After the release - back to your own.

It is better to advance with a group, because they know the path exactly and will provide fire support, when you exit, the group will stop and wait until you go forward. And ahead is the cutest creature - a pseudo-giant. Don't get in his way. By the way - 2 modified clips in the face from Vintar will decide the outcome of the battle ... The group commander will give out the Gravy artifact for help. Which, if you do not use Stalker Clear Sky as the main one during the passage, you can profitably sell it.

Directly in front of you is an anomaly, with artifacts.

Then just move in the direction indicated on the map. When there are 100 meters left to the target, you will understand the seriousness of the problem. Your goal is the anomaly Teleport, located on the tank. The tank is surrounded by snorks, which must either be killed or run through. To get through the anomaly, you need to jump onto the tank's turret and from there jump into the anomaly.

You will find yourself very close to the Forester's hut, but only the hut on chicken legs turned out to be a very decent building in size. The forester is on the second floor. He does not know the exact road to Limansk, but he knows that somewhere on this road the stalkers fell into a trap. The signal is weak, but in military warehouses the signal should be stronger. It is there that you need to keep the path for the further passage of the game Stalker Clear Sky.

At the very top of the tower, there are some cartridges hidden, you can climb it up the stairs, on the wall of the building.

To the west of the tower, to the left of the road, you will find an artifact in the anomalies of the electra. To continue the passage of Stalker Clear Sky, you need to get to the Military Warehouses location.

MILITARY WAREHOUSES

A lone block post, lost in the boundless expanses of the Zone. Military warehouses with a dozen military men desperately clutching at their lives. They are waiting for help that will never come. A group of stalkers who are trying no less hard to save their comrades who have fallen into a trap. But strong interference does not allow to receive a signal ...

The village with stalkers that you need is nearby. Stalkers in the village will tell you that a group of their comrades-in-arms disappeared when they were looking for a rare artifact, a weak signal comes from them. The signal could be caught by climbing the water tower, but the stalkers could not cope with the bloodsucker. By the way, on the way you can meet more than one instance of this creature.

When you climb the tower, you will catch a signal that will contain the coordinates of the unsuccessful stalkers. This will become the basis for the further passage of Stalker Clear Sky.

Having gone downstairs, be prepared for a possible meeting with your four-legged friends. Now only the Forester can help you, who should suggest a way out of this situation. When returning to the Red Forest, you can see a firefight between Freedom and Duty, after which you can collect good samples of weapons and of course cartridges.

Upon arrival at the Forester, you will find out that he himself has already found himself in such a situation, but got out with the help of the Compass artifact, which is incredibly rare and powerful. The problem is that the artifact was taken from him by local gangsters - gopniks. The property must be returned.

The bandits have settled in the tunnels in the Red Forest. As you move through the tunnel - look under your feet. After killing a dozen opponents, you can pick up the Compass artifact. On the shelves is a box with scientific first-aid kits. Do not be surprised if Duty comes running after you.

If you want extreme sports (just save first) - go down the stairs (behind the entrance, where the floor is expelled from the boards), meet a couple of poltergeists and a very good artifact. You will find the exit in the form of a rise up, the exit is littered with boxes. You can wait until the Dolgovtsy also climb there.

A hint on how to deal with poltergeists will lie under the stairs in the form of a corpse of a dead stalker. Take a shotgun from him and completely shoot the creatures, not forgetting to replenish your health - one good hit with a heavy blunt object and you're done. The artifact will be at the end of the toilet, to the left of the stairs.

Another artifact is located in the anomalies of the electra in the south direction from the Forester (there is a cache nearby, information on which can be bought from the Forester)

After passing the game Stalker Clear Sky, Leshenik will take everything from the Compass, but he will figure out a way for the stalkers to get out of trouble and lower the bridge. But first, you need to give them instructions, and for this you need a transmitter from military depots.
The next point of your journey is the camp of Stalkers in military warehouses. They'll be happy to hear that you've found a way to get their comrades out, but they won't help you. But they can offer cooperation with Svoboda, whether to help them or not is up to you, of course, but their trunks will not be superfluous ...

In the southwestern corner of the location map, there are Zharka anomalies, among which lies an expensive artifact. Anomalies are located south (below) the road, not far from the exit from the location.

The Freedom Fighters will rush into battle the moment you appear near the warehouses. They complain that they cannot knock the enemy out of the main headquarters. A sniper rifle and headshots will quickly break the resistance of the military. On the first floor in the armory there are several AC-96s in perfect condition, also there you will find first-aid kits, cartridges, grenades.

To send a message, you need to climb the tower and pull the switch. Having received your instructions, the stalkers will be able to get out of the cursed anomaly and head towards Limansk. On the other side of the bridge, Lebedev is already waiting, who asks for your help. Where you will need to go for the subsequent passage of Stalker Clear Sky.

If there is information on this cache, then you will find an RPG near the tank

In the southern part of the swamp, which is located near the military warehouses, you will find a good artifact, which is best reached by a pipe.

In the north (top) of the map there are 2 semicircular clearings surrounded by stones, each of which has an artifact.

Further passage of the game Stalker Clear Sky (Stakler: Clear Sky) should be continued from the battle near the bridge. When you get to it, then your work can actually be reduced to well-aimed headshots of opponents that appear on the left. By the time you put a few dozen opponents into eternal sleep, Lefty will come up with his group. Your further task, at the first exclamation of Leshy about the sniper, is to watch and kill the bandit with a rifle on the hill behind the bridge. When the bridge goes down, you can start looting - searching the corpses of the killed opponents. If you have a weapon under a sniper cartridge, then look for corpses in raincoats. You can also get enough VLA rifles to the eyeballs, which can then be successfully sold.

There was a fire at the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, all living things ran away from there further than the eyes looked. People were evacuated, or they collected all their things and left on their own, the birds flew away, and the animals ran away to look for another habitat. All nature felt something bad. Only the most important representatives of nature, the "lungs" of the entire planet - trees - could not escape. Previously, everyone's favorite, understandable and not at all creepy forest has become like a place for some kind of horror movie. Today this place is called the Red Forest (or Red Forest, Orange Forest). The previously unremarkable forest received this name because of the characteristic color of the vegetation, which ceased to be the same as it should soon after.

Today, the Red Forest is trees that are located near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant: if you decide to look for the Red Forest on the map, you will see that the distance between it and the station is only two kilometers. The territory itself, which is occupied by the Chernobyl forest, is determined by experts by ten square kilometers.

The entire Red Forest in Chernobyl is the most terrible forest in the world. It is terrible to imagine what Chernobyl has turned the Red Forest into. At night, in the first days after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, ghosts seemed to fly there, and the plants in Chernobyl began to glow. Everyone was simply shocked by such processes. Only later did it become clear that the luminous forest near the nuclear power plant was the result of a reaction between the enzymes that the terrible forest produces and the particles of radiation that settled on it.

Why is the Red Forest in Pripyat red?

Many people have a question why the forest of Pripyat is painted red, and everything else remains as gray and ordinary as in other cities. Does radiation have any color?

No, radiation has no color or smell. It's all about the many complex chemical, physical and biological processes that took place here and are taking place now. The Red Forest in Chernobyl is the result of these processes. At the same time, biologists and those who study radiation in Chernobyl have long proved that the main reason that the Chernobyl forest turned red was the human factor. Let's take everything in order.

The main tree that suffered the most infestation on an area of 10 hectares was pine. Any forester who has studied such a phenomenon as the Red Forest can now say with accuracy that a pine tree cannot survive radioactive contamination of more than 100 rads without damage in its structure.

Irradiation in such quantities affects the trees from the inside. When after the radioactive dust scattered around the circumference, the trees were the first to absorb all the harmful substances. All their cells were penetrated by the most powerful radiation. Forest pollution has reached an unprecedented level. The trees burned down without a fire, becoming a bright red color.

Strike in a thousand rads

If we talk about what the background was in the Red Forest at the time of the accident, then everything freezes in horror. A map of the radiation background in Chernobyl compiled for the Red Forest shows that more than half of the forest area, which is almost five hectares, was irradiated by ten thousand rads. Even the most terrible forests in the world cannot compare with how much the panoramas of the Red Forest of Chernobyl suffered from the catastrophe at the station, and how much radiation they could carry across the planet if they caught fire.

Scientists stated that the forest has become more dangerous than the accident itself at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. If the Red Forest had caught fire at that time, it would have thrown out and distributed into the atmosphere a huge dose of radiation, which, together with the smoke, would have scattered and settled much further.

The fact that the infected forest was precisely coniferous became another difficulty in the situation that happened: coniferous trees, unlike deciduous trees, shed their needles only once in two or three years.

A big problem was also the fact that the accident at the nuclear power plant happened in the spring. For trees, spring is the time when the internal juices of the tree begin to spread through its veins, buds open, trees absorb all the nutrients from the earth and the environment.

In order to somehow minimize the catastrophic consequences, it was decided to rake up all the fallen leaves, cut down the trees and bury everything deep into the ground. In no case was it possible to burn the leaves and let the trees into construction, as they could bring colossal harm to people.

As a result of many studies, it was decided to bury all the yellow leaves. But this was a huge mistake. It so happened that the needles and trees were buried exactly to the depth where groundwater flows. After everything buried began to decompose, groundwater absorbed all the radiation into itself. And when the new young forest began to grow, it was fed by the same underground waters that absorbed radioactive substances. As a result, new trees also became reddish.

Four divisions of the Red Forest

Depending on how far from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant the trees were located, the Red Forest is conditionally divided into four parts. These zones differ in the level of both the degree of damage and the amount of radiation that fell on them in 1986-1987. Let us characterize these four different divisions of the Red Forest.

First zone

This zone is the very Red Forest that everyone is talking about. This forest is located on almost five hectares and is the closest to the epicenter of events. The level of its pollution is the highest, ranging from eight to ten thousand rads in different areas. For coniferous trees, this dose became lethal and the forest burned out. Only the underground parts of the pines remained alive, and the entire upper part was repainted from green to red. Hardwoods were slightly less affected.

In our time, the forest has fully recovered only by ten percent, that is, only 500 out of 5 thousand hectares.

Second zone

The zone, which occupied 12 thousand hectares, suffered a little less. Only half of this part of the forest was vinyl, most of the dead trees were conifers. The biggest harm in this zone is damage to young buds that have completely died out. The radiation level of this zone ranged from one to eight thousand rads.

Third zone

The third zone occupied more than forty hectares of forest and showed almost no visual damage. Soils died out in this zone, and changes in color were observed only on individual branches. One third of the zone was occupied by coniferous forests. These trees had a radiation level of no more than 500 rads. Compared to the first two zones, this is nothing.

Fourth zone

The fourth zone is the most normal and clean of all zones. The radiation level here deviates from the norm by only 20 rad, that is, the maximum recorded number was equivalent to 120 rad.

Having described in detail the entire scale of the catastrophe, we can say with accuracy that the fatal human error will remind of itself for many more years. The fact that at the time of the accident there was no alternative solution to the problem of burying the Red Forest has echoes today. Moreover, even if the outward appearance of the Red Forest ever recovers, plutonium will still be present in the expanses of forests for another twenty-five thousand years. That is how long it takes plutonium to completely decay.

How to get to the Red Forest?

If you want to see all the horror and at the same time all the unusual beauty of the Red Forest in Pripyat, we advise you to visit one of the excursions to Chernobyl. The guides will explain in detail and clearly all the questions regarding the uniqueness of this forest.

There is another way by which you can get to the Red Forest -. These people illegally reside in the territory of the Exclusion Zone and make a living from excursions. But entering the zone in this way is illegal and may even be punishable by law. Still, it is better to choose the traditional way of visiting the Chernobyl zone and the Red Forest, thanks to which you can find out reliable information and take exclusive photos of the red forest.

He was awakened by thunder, his body trembling. Until yesterday, the 19-year-old boy was lucky. Rising up, the young stalker looked out the window.
- Yes ... the weather is bad in these places - Victor said in a hoarse voice. He moved away from the window and sat down near the stove. Turning over the embers in it, the stalker took a can of stew, a piece of bread and a knife, which were neatly laid out near the chimney. But his meal ended before it began. A man in a raincoat burst into the house, but immediately fell dead, or so Victor thought. The stalker approached the uninvited guest. Leaning over him, he asked:
- Who are you?!
But not a friend said only one thing:
- Map...
Victor turned the stranger over. He was covered in wounds. The stalker knew these cuts very well. These were traces of a bloodsucker. Searching the man in the cloak, he found a map. The path to the cache was drawn on it. The cache was located in a hole in the Red Forest. Having collected his belongings, Victor set off on a raid on the Red Forest. But it was impossible to go there alone. Therefore, he decided to first go to the bunker, to Sidorovich.
Leaving the house, the stalker headed towards Cordon. Making his way through the reeds, he still came to the path that led to the bunker. Suddenly, something rustled in the bushes. Frightened, Advance gave a fight to Sidorovich. He literally jumped into the bunker, and going down the stairs, went to the merchant.
Hello, Advance. What did you complain about? - chewing chicken, asked the merchant.
- gifts-gifts. We need people, 6-8 people. - answered the stalker.
- why? - asked Sidor.
- Yes, I found a type of Klondike. You 40% for silence.
-harasho. The guys will be here in an hour.
After standing for an hour behind the door, Victor received a text message on his PDA. It contained a mark sent by a trader indicating the location of his future team. It was a place near the Garbage, near the former base of the Bandits. And the stalker moved there. Fallen leaves rustled underfoot, wild boars frolicked somewhere in the distance, but the board did not subside, and did not subside. Vitya was all wet, so he took out a raincoat fabric from his backpack and put it on. Picking up his AKS, and having previously removed it from the safety lock, he continued on his way. The day was quiet, there were few mutants, but it was raining ... and for a stalker it was bad. Born in the Crimea, he basked in the sun. And now this downpour, almost every day. Runny nose did not leave him for the 4th month. Turning to the left, Victor left the beginners' village. Having added a step, the stalker crossed the bridge and after 15-20 meters was at the embankment. The dogs in front ran across the road, apparently heading towards the pig farm. Victor ran to the checkpoint, and after 20 minutes he was at the dump. Proshov gate and rusty bus, Advance headed to the former base of bandits. The dump was, as always, unremarkable. Bandits lived in these places; Chaos and lawlessness reigned here. Stalkers rarely went alone, but Advance is no stranger. Looking around, Victor still saw a group of stalkers at the former base of bandits. There were seven of them. "Sidor did not deceive, he kept his word," thought the stalker. Vitya approached the group, a healthy man in an exoskeleton left the detachment, probably the leader of the group.
- Hector - the leader of the group introduced himself - Sidor told us about you.
- Advance payment - Victor introduced himself. - We're going to the Red Forest. Can we leave?
- I have no secrets from my fighters. Hector said clearly and dryly.
- then we'll go to the stop.
-let's go.
We sat down on dilapidated benches.
- Well, tell me your plan - said the leader of the group.
Advance took out a map, looked around and said:
- there is a cave in the forest, but it is disguised. There is no information about mutants.
- secret unknown - Hector said in a calm voice and a smile on his face. - but my fighters love it.
Hector's fighters laughed in unison.
- the path of the route: Landfill, Agroprom, Yantar, Red Forest - suggested Advance.
- I agree - said Hector - well, with God.
And the detachment rushed towards Agroprom.
Crows circled proudly in the sky. Slowly the weather became clearer. A detachment of stalkers, led by Hector and Avans, approached an abandoned tunnel, in which there were many craters.
- Now let's go through the base of Loners, and then over the hill and we will be on Yantar. Victor said.
- Give you some ammo? - the leader of the detachment asked Advance.
- preferably, otherwise I only have 2 horns on the SGI - the stalker answered.
- Here, take it - Hector handed him three horns.
This ended the conversation and the detachment turned to the right, to the base of Singles.
Screaming, howling dogs, shots of stalkers were heard from the base. A detachment of Advance and Hector decided to help the Loners.
Approaching the base, the detachment saw a bloody mess. Dogs with snorks attacked stalkers, loners barely fought back, some hid in the building and on the roof. And from the black entrance the base was attacked by bandits.
Detachment of Victor and Hector, took up positions and began to shoot the wicked, slowly approaching the main building.
The mutants were losing ground and losing their units, the line from the "Bulldog" forced the remnants of snorks and mole rats to run away from the battlefield. And in the meantime, singles destroyed the quad of bandits.
The leader of the Loners, the Forester, approached the detachment of travelers.
Thank you, without you we would not have managed on two fronts. Come to the light, and to the arsenal - he said.
Hector just smiled and shook Forester's hand.
Having taken enough food and ammunition, the detachment rushed to Yantar. Bypassing multiple anomalies and lairs of mutants, the group climbed the hill. The sun shone all over. "Strange somehow" - thought Advance. Here is the bunker. After the super release in 2014, the situation in the Zone has changed. The psi-field is now gone and all the stalkers rushed to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, but the Monolith firmly holds its positions.
"here is Amber" - thought Advance and looked around. Ahead was a bunker, and behind it was a swamp in which huge crabs lived. Only on Lake Yantarny there was an anomaly "needle". Amber is also a habitat for snorks and zombies. But since there is no psi-radiation, the number of zombies decreases due to their destruction.
- Don't you think that we are going somehow easily? Hector asked Advance.
- the calm before the storm. Probably not only we know about this cache.
- Where did you get that from?
- you yourself think, if you believe the instructions for the map, then from the gold from the treasure you can build a gold sarcophagus over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant with a thickness of three meters. But we don't know everything... - Victor answered.
Why hasn't anyone found this treasure yet? There is no psychic radiation.
- perhaps only that old stalker knew where the treasure of the Zone was hidden...
- maybe...
And the stalkers fell silent again. Everyone was thinking about their own, but everyone had the idea that they would soon find gold and leave this place, full of darkness, fear and horror, the world of the Zone. The squad passed the bunker and the swamp, approaching the laboratory, they shot the remnants of the zombies.
Hector was the first to step onto the territory of the plant-laboratory, the rest behind him. But no one noticed going above, by design, a zombie. One step, the zombie stumbled and with all its weight collapsed the iron beam, which fell on Hector. The detachment quickly ran up to the fallen, but it was too late. Advance finished off the zombie with an automatic burst.
Realizing that Hector was gone, Advance decided to take command.
Come on, we can't save him. On the way back we will bury with honors.
The detachment obediently followed Victor.
And now they were already on the path to the Red Forest. Bypassing not numerous anomalies, the group entered behind a concrete fence through a hole.
Pulling out the map, Advance examined it carefully once more. Ahead was a hole, this was the entrance to the cave. But unexpectedly, the group opened fire. The stalker did not have time to look back, as two pseudo dogs fell dead.
Yes, we are on target. Two walk with me, and everyone else stand in a circle.
- eat! - they all said in unison.
Advance and two more stalkers began to dig the entrance to the cave, while the rest guarded them. The entrance was large enough for a person to climb through. When everyone entered the cave, the entrance, which is also the exit, fell asleep.
It became very dark, the stalkers were breathing heavily. The flashlights didn't work. From the darkness came a voice:
- 3 hello...
The stalkers opened fire, but the voice continued:
- Don't waste your ammo.
- who are you!?! yelled one of the stalkers in a voice that was not his own.
- I am the ghost of the Red Forest, not many ships made it. I've been watching you from the very beginning. Are you here for the gold? So take as much as you can take. - answered the voice.
In the cave, the lighting immediately turned on, it is not clear from where. The cave was a tunnel, which was very long. Everywhere lay gold, sapphires, crystals, artifacts, money, silver, pearls. Even the chests were made of gold.
Stalkers greedily began to rake in gold. Although there was plenty of everything, they began to fight for the treasure. Knives were used, and Advance killed a stalker who wanted to take the golden crown from him.
- be damned! You and your greed! yelled the ghost.
With these words, the light went out and the stalkers with all the gold plunged underground.

A month has passed.
Without waiting for Advance, Sidorovich no longer trusted the stalkers.
Having learned about the death of his rescuers, the Forester, who had seen a lot in his lifetime, turned even more gray.
Soon the ghost and the treasure were forgotten.
The zone securely keeps its secrets...

"STALKER: Clear Sky" is the second game in the series, released in 2008. This first-person shooter computer game was developed by a Ukrainian company. She has more than one thousand admirers around the world. Based on the idea of the game, they write books and make films. The article tells what the "Red Forest" is in "Stalker" and where it is located.

The plot of the game

In each part of the game "Stalker" there are different main characters, this time it is the mercenary Scar. In the introduction, he leads a group of scientists through a swamp and at this time they are overtaken by a powerful ejection. Scientists immediately die, and the mercenary loses consciousness. He is found by members of the "Clear Sky" group and taken to their base. When Scar comes to his senses, the leader of the "Clear Sky" Lebedev tells him that the frequent bursts of the Zone are due to the fact that someone passed behind And since the mercenary's nervous system takes on the release of radiation, he will not survive the next one. Scar sets out to look for a group of stalkers led by Strelok, who have made their way to the center of the Zone.

Where is the "Red Forest" in "Stalker"?

"Red Forest" is a new location that is only available in "STALKER: Clear Sky". To get to it, you need to go through the factory territory, which is located on the location "Amber" and is teeming with zombies. In addition, to pass through this territory, you need a device to protect against psi-radiation. Along the forest there is a road that leads to the bridge to Limansk. The Red Forest got its name for the reddish color of the trees that were subjected to the first release. In the past, it was an ordinary protected forest park area.

Stalker mission in the "Red Forest"

As soon as Scar starts running along the road along the Red Forest, Strelok runs down the tunnel leading to Limansk, which blows up behind him. The main character is left alone with the mercenaries paid by the Shooter. Having dealt with them, there is nothing left but to go to the stalker in the "Red Forest".

The main goal of the player in the forest is to find an anomaly by jumping into which you can get to the Forester. In the center of the forest there is an unknown tank that got there. The anomaly is located on it, and in order to jump into the teleport, you need to climb onto the tank. But everything is not so simple, there are a lot of snorks running around and several corpses lying. Through the anomaly, Scar gets to the other end of the forest, which is controlled by the Duty group. Here is the dwelling of a stalker named Forester, several outbuildings and a transition to the location "Military warehouses". Entering the forest from this side you can get into the "Mines". A gang of Renegades settled here, who took an artifact from the Forester. The quest for the return of the artifact is also included in the required tasks.

You can go to Limansk only on the bridge, which is raised and controlled by bandits. Performing tasks in the "Red Forest", the stalker manages to free the mercenaries who are in Limansk from the anomaly. It is they who remove the bandits on the other side of the bridge and help the Clear Sky squad with Scar cross the bridge.

In the forest, there is a war of loners with mutants at key sites. In the east of the "Red Forest" there is an archanomaly called "Symbiont", it consists of a psi-field, a carousel, fryers and funnels. In general, anomalies are quite common at the location, mainly funnels and electrums. And if there are anomalies, then, accordingly, artifacts, it is for them that stalkers go to the "Red Forest".

Riddles of the Red Forest

You can find the "link of times" in the "Red Forest", and the stalker will be able to shorten the road. This artifact lies in Leshy's cache, which is located under the stones in the forest itself. It is completely incomprehensible how a combat vehicle could get into the center of the forest, because huge centuries-old trees grow around. Maybe he was transported to the "Red Forest" with the help of an anomaly, because it is on the tank that it is located. Not far from the "Devil's parking lot", which is located near the dwelling of the Forester and is guarded by the fighters of Duty, lies a couple of dead Monoliths. How they got there is also a mystery.
