What is a bus validator. Buses are changing validators so that smartphones pay for travel without failures

valid- valid, valid, lawful) - an electronic or mechanical-electronic device designed to display and / or verify the information of documents (public transport tickets, passes) recorded on contactless or contact electronic media for operational control over the legality of the passage of a passenger into the passenger compartment of the bus , trolleybus, tram and other similar types of ground transport, to the boarding platform in the subway, on the railway and other types of transport, where fare control is carried out outside the vehicle, or an employee to the office. Often combined with a turnstile.

The advantage of the validator is a high degree of accounting for passenger traffic in transport, the possibility of precise control over visits to closed offices and enterprises, and a relatively inexpensive cost of maintaining the device.

Moscow ground transport

The first turnstiles with validators in Moscow's surface public transport as part of an experiment on the introduction of an automated travel control system (ASCP) appeared in 2001 in the Zelenograd administrative district on bus route No. 16. By the middle of 2002, the system was extended to all Zelenograd bus routes (municipal subordination), and since September 2007 to all surface urban public transport of municipal subordination.

Saint Petersburg

Manual validator PK-001

Since January 2007, on most social routes of public transport in the city, conductors have got a device for reading information from travel documents - a validator. Later, validators appeared for route drivers who do not have conductors.

By 2011, most of the city's buses were transferred to the new system of electronic fare control (SEKOP). This system provides for the presence of stationary validators in the passenger compartment on the handrails (from 4 to 8 pieces), which allow the passenger to independently pay for the fare (validation of an electronic ticket).

The SECOP includes validators of two types: simple and informational. Simple validators have an LED indication that informs the passenger about the following events:

  • The validator is ready to read the e-ticket.
  • Travel paid.
  • The fare has not been paid for (for example, the validity period has expired).
  • E-ticket re-attached (fare on this route has already been paid).
  • The validator is blocked by the controller for the duration of the fare check.

Validator operation indication

Information validators have an LCD display, which, in addition to indicating events similar to a simple validator, can display information about an electronic ticket (validity period, travel resource or balance, depending on the type of ETP). To receive such information, you must first pay for the fare, then reattach the ticket to the information validator. The validator will show that the ticket has been re-applied, and after a while will display information about the ESP resource.

Other cities

In Krasnoyarsk, with the help of a plastic electronic card, privileged groups of the population can pay for travel in urban public transport from the beginning of 2008, all other citizens - from November 2010. Conductors of all buses, trolleybuses, trams have portable readers (validators). You can replenish cards through multifunctional payment terminals, as well as in city post offices.

In Kemerovo, you can pay for travel in this way from January 2010. The system has been introduced in all buses, trolleybuses and trams of the city. When paying with a transport card, you can save up to 1 rub per trip.

In the city of Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan), since January 2008, the system of paying for travel through a validator using an electronic card or in cash has been operating in all trams and trolleybuses of the city. In buses, this system has not become widespread; on many buses, validators have been installed, but do not work. In 2011, valid validators were introduced on several bus routes and accept only iron money, as the bill reading system and eCash magnetic card replenishment points do not function, and often do not exist at all.

Since the end of 2009, the E-card transport card has been introduced in Yekaterinburg. The system has been introduced in all trolleybuses, trams and buses of the city. Validators are located at the conductors or mounted on a vertical handrail on the back platform. Some of the fixed-route taxis are also equipped with validators. It is possible to pay the fare in the usual way. since 2012 MegaFon operator launched a service for paying for travel from a mobile phone in Yekaterinburg's public transport. True, at first such a service was implemented only in the Yekaterinburg metro, but now such an opportunity has appeared in surface transport. Thanks to MegaFon's new service, it is possible to pay for travel using a mobile phone in all types of ground public transport in Yekaterinburg, on a number of commercial routes, as well as at all stations of the Yekaterinburg metro - wherever the "E-card" is accepted.

In Yaroslavl, since 2010, a payment system has been introduced in all types of public transport using a rechargeable electronic travel card (payment is made a month in advance). Validators are provided to conductors and drivers. It also remains possible to purchase regular tickets for a single trip.

Good day. In this article, we will consider the operation of the cashless public transport fare system from Sberbank. We check everything on the Irkutsk transport.

If you have not read the first article, then I recommend that you first read it. Saturday 15 April was magical for me. It was on this day that I noticed a working terminal on bus 67. It made me happy. Maybe, of course, the payment was launched earlier, because the last time I traveled on “advanced” transport was on Wednesday.

And now the moment of truth has come. I take out my contactless bank card, go to the front door and ask the driver: “Can I pay with a card?”. To which I get the answer: “Yes. Do you have a card with WI-FI? A little unexpected. As I said in a previous article, many people associate the contactless payment icon with WI-FI. Of course, one could say: “I don’t have a WI-FI card, but I have a contactless one.” But I, without becoming to dedicate the driver to the technical details, corny answered: "Yes."

Terminal

The driver turned the terminal towards me, pressed the green button, I attached the card. Not even a second went by before the check arrived. I tried to take the check. But the device did not cut it. Therefore, quite a lot of paper was squandered, for which I received a portion of obscenities from the driver and he himself tore off the check.

Check

The difference in the time of arrival of E-Mail and the time of receipt printing was a minute. I thought that most likely the mail server was just late, and the operations are going Online. But let's not jump to conclusions.

In the evening, I came across the coveted second tram, on the doors of which there were stickers known to all of us. It is interesting that in Trams and Trolleybuses there are different posters than in buses. The price is also indicated when paying by card, which does not differ from paying in cash.

Tram decoration

The conductor in the tram walks with two devices: with a terminal and with a device for printing ordinary tickets. Showing the conductor the card, she was delighted to press the green button, and I attached the card. Everything went just as fast. This time the check was torn off by the conductor, but the brand of the terminal was the same, and most likely, it also does not cut paper. I received my ticket with the phrase "Here, you see how fast." Smiled. Indeed, paying with a card is much faster than suffering with change.

Checks

You can also notice that the checks are different from the "store" ones. These checks indicate the type of transport and its route. But instead of the Sberbank logo, the inscription “Ticket” flaunts here.

After checking the E-Mail, I noticed that the letter arrived already 4 minutes late. It's no longer a delay. This really confirms that the operations take place offline. Also, if you enter your personal account on the Sberbank website, you can see that it is not the time of payment that is recorded there, but the time when he arrived at the bank.

Unfortunately, Sberbank does not write the type of transport in your personal account. But on the other hand, it is displayed in Yandex.Money. At the same time, the tram and bus have different MCCs. By Tram: 4111 Commuter Transport, Ferries And the bus is already like this: 4131 Bus Lines [Bus lines]. Well, of course, the tram is more like an electric train. Although most likely the terminals were simply set up by various organizations responsible for electricity and vehicles in Irkutsk.

Of course, there are things that it is desirable to fix:

  • Make sure that terminals on buses hang closer to the passenger, and not in the driver's cab.
  • It is desirable, of course, that the terminal be always turned by the screen to the passenger, and not to the driver. A turned away terminal is associated with the fact that it does not work.
  • It is not very convenient to make automatic cutting of the check, tearing off the check for each passenger.
  • For transport with conductors, it is desirable to reduce the terminal in thickness (there are mobile versions and thinner). It is also desirable to combine in one device a terminal and a device for printing ordinary tickets.
  • Make the green dig bigger, and not hammer it in the corner under the cover. Otherwise, you can miss, and knock down the settings in the terminal.

Basically, that's all. It remains only to wait for the mass launch of this project.

In some Moscow buses, the validators were removed at the beginning and at the end of the cabin. This was noticed in social networks, and the journalists of The Village were convinced of this.

As a result, you can pay for the fare only near the central doors, which are not always possible to get through due to the large number of passengers. Mosgortrans told us why they turned off the reading devices.

Mosgortrans

“We are increasing the number of validators that accept payments with bank cards and smartphones with the contactless payment function - updating the software on new devices, replacing old-style validators.”

According to the agency, the validator may be absent only at one of the doors - and in less than 5% of all city buses. In fact, out of three validators, most often only one is left, in the center.

After service, the readers will be returned to their place. Mosgortrans promises that validators will work at all doors on buses as early as the beginning of 2020. It will now be possible to pay for travel not only with a travel card, but also with a card or smartphone. This function is still there, but it works intermittently.

In order to optimize, Moscow public buses will accept payment cards. On September 1, 2018, the procedure for removing the turnstiles is scheduled. In the event that public transport will have this equipment, citizens will be able to pay for travel using their own bank card.

Secure validators on buses - what is it?

Citizens of the Russian Federation who move around Moscow should be aware that from September 1, special turnstiles will be dismantled in all vehicles that are ground. To optimize the fare payment procedure, 6,000 special validators will be installed. To make it safe, obsolete fare payment devices will be replaced with new ones.

The validators purchased by the Moscow authorities make it possible to read the necessary information not only from tickets and social cards, but also from cards that allow using the payment system that does not require contact - PayPass, PayWave.

You can also use phones that work with Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay and so on to pay for land transport. To determine whether the user has the ability to pay for travel using a validator, special symbols appear on the devices. The controllers can check the fact that the fare has been paid, the gadget is brought to the device of the person in charge.

Ticket prices when using the validator

If residents and guests of the capital of the Russian Federation use the validator to pay for public transport, the ticket price will be only 40 rubles. During the purchase of a standard ticket, the cost of one trip increases significantly (by 15 rubles). Validators are being introduced into the general public transport system in order to significantly save time for boarding buses and trolleybuses.

In the event that the turnstile is dismantled in ground transport, the boarding time is reduced by 30 seconds. This may not seem like a significant figure, but overall travel time is reduced by 20 percent. For the first time, validators began to be installed in land transport in 2017 during the summer period. In order to note the effectiveness of this system, the specialists were given enough time. Validators were installed on 47 bus routes that ran throughout the capital of the Russian Federation (closer to sports facilities).

Most ground public transport passengers have already come to terms with double control: first you put the "Plantain" on the validator, then on the reader in the hands of the incredulous conductor, who says, like a mantra: "Trips are not re-removed!" But why do we need conductors at all, if most buses, trolleybuses and trams are equipped with validators? We addressed this issue to the Transport Committee and the expert of the City and Transport movement.

Tamara
Smirnova

Press Secretary of the Transport Committee

The conductors are now duplicating the validators because someone has to collect the one-time revenue, that is, the proceeds from the sale of one-time tickets. There is Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 112, which provides for a single ticket, and the city follows it.

Until 2017, the Committee plans to gradually move to an electronic fare collection system, more civilized and modern. The Committee is considering various ways to pay for travel without the use of conductors: ticket vending machines, turnstiles, pavilions at stopping points, payment via the Internet, via a bank card, even using a mobile phone - there are many options.

Now 1,900 conductors of Passazhiravtotrans State Unitary Enterprise (buses), 2,488 of Gorelektrotrans (trolleybuses and trams) work in the city, and some more for non-state carriers. In total, there are about 4,500 people in the city. All rolling stock of the GET and PAT is equipped with validators.

The cost of paying for the work of conductors now amount to about 1 billion 700 million rubles a year, the cost of land transport as a whole is 15.6 billion rubles. Accordingly, almost 11% of all costs are spent on conductors. The conductorless fare payment system will allow spending only 700,000 rubles a year on inspection personnel.

Vladimir
Valdin

expert of the movement "City and transport"

The conductor today is actually a government official. And you pay any official out of your own pocket and, obviously, want to know for what. So, think about whether you need this person on board the bus? Are you ready to pay for it? The conductor system for collecting revenue is a stone age, it should have been abandoned long ago. You should copy how it works in civilized countries: with rare exceptions, there is no conductor collection of revenue. Conductors can afford to be maintained by rich and terry-socialist countries like Sweden. Sometimes drivers abroad also accept the fare, but this is more of an additional service of the carrier to the passenger, and the service is not cheap. For example, in Prague you will never buy a ticket from a tram driver - but you can buy it from a bus driver, and it will cost much more than if you buy it at a kiosk. And that's okay: it's not a driver's job to sell tickets.

Why can't we refuse conductors in St. Petersburg? We have driven ourselves into a dead end with legislation: absolutely everything requires instructions, and common sense is simply canceled - a kind of chronic Italian strike on a national scale. Now Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 112 does not allow, even in the presence of a system of validators, to abandon conductors and engage in closer control of fares - to organize teams of controllers, including with the participation of the police. The law must be changed in accordance with common sense.

There is also the problem that only a police officer has the right to take any action in relation to the hare. We have a ridiculous fine for ticketless travel - 500 rubles. In fact, the fine should be equal to the cost of a monthly ticket. And then imagine: what can the aunt-conductor do against the hare? Yes, nothing if a hefty drunken bighead comes in who simply refuses to pay. In the situation that we now have in society, this ambal will be indifferent to passengers or they will begin to protect it.

If we want to do everything according to the instructions and wait for the next sovereign law for every sneeze, then we will ride with conductors and validators at the same time. But the saddest thing is that we all pay for this through taxes. As a result, our taxes are spent not on the maintenance of transport, but on the army of people who do not create either goods or really needed services.
