Ryanair has new baggage rules. Ryanair carry-on baggage - rules of transportation

Ryanair baggage and carry-on baggage will be carried under different rules from 1 November 2019. The new requirements of the largest European low-cost airline apply to the company's customers who have decided not to use Priority's services. Conditions for priority passengers remain the same. If you are planning low-cost flights to European countries with Ryanair, carefully review the new rules and take into account the additional costs of baggage transportation.

Carry-on baggage and baggage conditions

According to the official statement of the carrier's representatives, the new rules for the carriage of hand luggage on the Ryanair aircraft are necessary to reduce flight delays, the reasons for which are related to the baggage check-in of passengers. Now those who want to save as much as possible on the cost of the flight will have to travel very light.

Please note that the Ryanair website changes the currency in accordance with the selected region.

According to the old rules, each passenger could take one suitcase 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size, weighing up to 10 kg and one more small bag 35 x 20 x 20 cm, which could be placed, free of charge into the cabin as hand luggage. under the seat in front of the passenger.

Now the size of carry-on baggage (more precisely, the number of seats) that a non-priority passenger can carry for free is completely limited - it's just a small bag. A suitcase weighing up to 10 kg will have to be checked in as luggage. At the same time, the company slightly increased the allowable dimensions of hand luggage - 40 x 20 x 25 cm. At the same time, the size of the template frame at the airport “increased” to 42 x 20 x 30 cm. If the width is 1 cm wider, the bag will not pass through it. In this case, you will have to check it in your luggage, paying the required amount at the current rates.

Carry-on baggage dimensions include handles and wheels, which may interfere with the placement of the bag in the overhead compartment above passenger seats or under the seat. Therefore, it is recommended to check the dimensions of your carry-on baggage in advance to avoid unplanned expenses at the airport before boarding.

Previously free baggage weighing up to 10 kg is now transported for € 8 if paid for when booking online. When the passenger adds it, he already pays 10 euros, and at the check-in counter at the airport - 20 euros.

Baggage allowance

Each passenger can add luggage to their booking - no more than 3 suitcases.

The weight of each piece of baggage must not exceed 20 kg.

It costs € 25 to carry one if the fee is paid at the time of self-booking or online check-in. At the airport, you will have to pay 40 euros. During the summer holiday season, as well as Christmas and Easter, the cost of one piece of luggage increases to 35 euros.

The size of baggage weighing up to 20 kg must correspond to 81 x 119 x 119 cm. The maximum allowable weight of one piece of baggage for passengers at European airports is no more than 32 kg. In case of exceeding the limit, you will have to pay 11 euros for each kilogram. If you cannot meet this standard, you need to order air cargo transportation. However, Ryanair allows passengers, if included in the same booking, to combine their baggage to avoid overcharging for excess weight.

A passenger who pays for the Priority & 2 Cabin Bags service for 6 euros can still carry one piece weighing up to 10 kg in the cabin free of charge along with an additional small bag (handbag, briefcase, small backpack, etc.). This provision also applies to the airline's customers who have purchased the Plus, Flexi Plus and Family Plus services.

At first glance, the purchase of the Priority & 2 Cabin Bags service for 6 euros is more profitable than the additional charge for luggage in the amount of 8 euros or more. But not everything is so simple. The fact is that the capacity of Ryanair aircraft is 189 passengers, and only 95 of them can purchase the priority boarding service. Those who did not manage to get into the priority category will have to check in their suitcases weighing up to 10 kg in luggage and pay extra at the new rates.

Oversized baggage

The cost of Ryanair luggage increases significantly if the passenger intends to move oversized items - bicycles, musical instruments and other items that cannot be placed in a suitcase. They must be packed in a protective case or box. When transporting a bicycle, remove the handlebars and pedals and attach them to the side. The allowed bike weight is 30 kg, and in all other cases - 20 kg. Electric bicycles will not be accepted for carriage.

The rates for baggage that do not fit in standard suitcases are as follows:

Guitar, violin, harp and other small musical instruments can be transported in the passenger cabin by paying for a separate window seat for them.

Flights to Israel

For passengers on flights to and from Israel, the size of carry-on baggage remains the same. Having paid for the Ryanair Priority 2 Cabin Bags, Plus, Flexi Plus or Family Plus service, they can take with them to the cabin:

  • a small bag with dimensions 35 x 20 x 20 cm;
  • suitcase with dimensions 55 x 40 x 20 up to 10 kg.

The rest of the passengers in the cabin are allowed to carry only a bag 35 x 20 x 20 cm.

Transportation of passengers with disabilities

On a single Ryanair flight, a maximum of 4 passengers with disabilities are allowed who require assistance from airline employees during boarding. Special services must be ordered during the online booking process.

Wheelchairs, on which passengers move, must correspond to dimensions of 81 x 119 x 119 cm. Electric seats are accepted for transportation if their batteries do not contain acids in liquid form. In any case, they must be de-energized when loaded on board. For movement in the cabin of the airliner, wheelchairs are provided for people with disabilities.

For safety reasons, passengers are not allowed to carry their own oxygen cylinders with them. If necessary, they must be ordered in advance from the airline for 100 euros.

Traveling with children

For safety reasons, children from 8 days to one year old on Ryanair flights are carried on the lap of one of the parents and do not occupy a separate seat. At the same time, they are fastened with special belts provided by the crew members. A bag weighing up to 5 kg with diapers, food and change of clothes can be carried free of charge in addition to carry-on baggage. In this case, a fee of 25 euros will be charged for the infant.

The stroller must be checked in at the airport. The cost of its transportation with a weight of up to 20 kg will be 15 euros if you purchase the service in addition during online booking. During the registration process, the payment for the stroller will increase to 20 euros.

For children over 2 years old, parents must pay for a separate seat on the aircraft. In this case, a small passenger can carry a separate carry-on baggage.

Transportation of animals on the plane

Pets are not allowed on Ryanair flights. They cannot be carried in carry-on baggage or checked baggage. Only guide dogs that accompany their owners are allowed. You are allowed to take such assistants with you on all routes within the EU. However, there is no check-in for guide dogs if the plane is heading to Israel or Morocco, as well as departing from these countries.

To transport a guide dog, you must provide the following documents:

  • EU passport for animals;
  • veterinary certificate of the dog's health.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, it is additionally necessary to submit documents confirming the membership of a guide dog in the following organizations:

  • International Guide Dog Federation;
  • Assistance Dogs UK;
  • Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

The need to transport a guide dog must be advised at the time of booking. During the flight, the animal is located at the feet of the owner. During takeoff and landing, the dog must be tied with special seat belts. For her, you can take food, drink and a bowl free of charge on board.

Prohibited items

Before a flight, passengers often have a question about what can be taken in hand luggage. The contents of the bags carried in the cabin must comply with flight safety requirements. For this reason, it is prohibited to carry in carry-on baggage:

  • firearms, ammunition and stun guns;
  • edged weapons and items for practicing martial arts;
  • sharp and cutting objects (razors, knives, scissors, manicure sets, carpentry tools, etc.);
  • blunt objects that can injure other passengers or crew members (tennis rackets, baseball bats, etc.);
  • pyrotechnic items;
  • explosive and flammable substances;
  • radioactive, toxic substances and viruses;
  • gyro scooters and electric scooters.

Security control staff at the airport will not allow items and substances on board that could create dangerous conditions for the aircraft, crew and passengers during the flight. So, checked baggage should not contain:

  • e-cigarettes;
  • explosive devices and substances, including detonators;
  • lithium-ion batteries;
  • liquefied gases, lighters and oxygen cylinders;
  • flammable liquids and flammable substances;
  • substances that are corrosive to metals;
  • magnetized objects;
  • narcotic substances.

Carrying on liquids in carry-on baggage

Liquids in carry-on baggage must be in bottles of no more than 100 ml. The allowed amount of liquid per passenger is no more than one liter. All vials must be placed in a separate transparent bag.

Aircraft liquids are:

  • water, juices, soups and syrups;
  • cosmetic lotions, oils and creams;
  • perfumery products;
  • deodorants and shaving foam;
  • gels;
  • pastas and sauces;
  • a mixture of liquid with solid components (canned food);
  • Mascara.

Transportation of electronic devices and batteries to them

Due to the risk of ignition, lithium-ion batteries must not be carried in the hold of an aircraft. Electronic devices can be checked in as checked baggage, but without batteries. Batteries must be carried separately in carry-on baggage. The maximum power per battery should not exceed 165W.

Carrier's liability for passengers' baggage

Ryanair's liability for passenger baggage is governed by the 1999 Montreal Convention. The carrier is responsible for damage to suitcases and bags carried in the hold, even if his guilt has not been proven. Damage caused to carry-on baggage is reimbursed only if the airline is at fault. Dents on suitcases, scratches and other cosmetic damage will not be compensated.

In case of loss or damage to baggage, the passenger must contact an employee of the company or airport to draw up a PIR. Lost suitcases will be searched for at other airports through the World Tracer system.

Damage compensation claims are accepted:

  • within 7 days in case of damage to baggage;
  • within 21 days if it is a loss.

conclusions

If you decide to buy low cost tickets for Ryanair's low cost flights, you should consider the new carry-on and baggage requirements. At the standard fare, you can only go on short trips without additional payment, taking a small bag or briefcase with you. To transport larger baggage weighing up to 10 kg, you will have to purchase the Priority & 2 Cabin Bags, Plus, Flexi Plus or Family Plus service, or pay an extra € 8 or more.

Ryanair's official website does not have a Russian version, so you will have to use English or another European language you know.

Ryanair Hand Luggage: Video

If you are going to buy a ticket for the Ryanair low-cost airline, below is everything you need to know about the rules of baggage and hand luggage on Ryanair flights - rules, conditions, how much baggage costs, how to buy it, how to check it in.

Ryanair baggage and carry-on baggage: carriage rules 2019

In November last year, Ryanair introduced new rules for flights, baggage and carry-on baggage, which will continue in 2019. According to them, the size of the bag for free carry-on baggage has become slightly larger, the cost of baggage transportation has become higher, and passengers can now take only one small bag for free as carry-on baggage: its dimensions are no more than 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm.

The only good news is that the weight of this bag is not limited, but with such dimensions, there is little that can fit.

Hand luggage

As it has already become clear, according to the new Ryanair rules, hand luggage, which a passenger with any airline can usually carry free of charge, is just one bag per passenger.

Its dimensions (dimensions) - 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm.

Weight is not limited.

This small personal bag should fit under the seat in front of the passenger. The role of a small bag can be played by a handbag, a laptop bag, a small backpack.

If the bag does not fit into the calibrator, you will have to pay an additional 25 euros for it and hand it over to the luggage compartment, and then, at the end of the flight, pick it up at the luggage carousel at the arrival airport.

One more bag free of charge, weighing up to 5 kg, dimensions 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm can be taken for a child under 2 years old if he is flying with his parents without buying a separate seat. All for the same child, you can additionally take a folding stroller and a car seat free of charge. The passenger must hand over the stroller at the plane's ladder.

Of course, if you compare the rules of carriage and free carry-on baggage norms with the norms of other airlines, then Ryanair has them very much curtailed.

For example, the budget "Pobeda" carry-on baggage assumes a weight of up to 10 kg, dimensions - 36x30x4 cm, or the weight is not standardized, dimensions 36x30x27 cm a backpack measuring 36x30x23 cm, a bouquet of flowers, outerwear, medicines and food for the child, a suit in a garment bag ... An exact list.

At Ural Airlines, the weight of hand luggage at low-cost fares is up to 5 kg, dimensions - 40x30x20 cm, for other types of fares - weight is up to 5 kg, size - 55x40x20 m. The company also allows you to take a lot of things in excess of hand luggage ...

Air carrier S7 Airlines (Siberian Airlines) allows you to take up to 10 kg in hand luggage, bag dimensions - 55x40x23 cm. But Aeroflot turned out to be the most democratic of all the above carriers: it has a free carry-on baggage allowance of up to 10 kg, dimensions - 55x40x25 cm.

Carry-on baggage for passengers who have purchased the priority boarding service

Passengers who have purchased the "Priority & 2 Cabin Bags" priority boarding service (price from 6 euros online) can take 2 pieces of hand luggage with them on board:

  • large bag - size 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, weight up to 10 kg
  • small bag - size 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm, unlimited weight

If the preparation for the flight showed that your things do not fit into the size and weight of your hand luggage, you need to buy a baggage service.

What can be carried in carry-on baggage

1. Food - it must be sliced (ie, look like real food).

2. Goods from Duty Free shops (duty-free bags) - allowed to be carried in the cockpit along with your carry-on baggage

3. Liquids and liquid objects.

They must be packed in separate containers, the volume of each container is no more than 100 ml. The total volume of liquids allowed for carriage in carry-on baggage cannot exceed 1 liter. All containers with liquid should be packed in one resealable one liter plastic container. the transport of liquids is controlled in accordance with the current EU safety requirements.

3.1. Baby food and milk

Baby food and milk (including powdered milk and sterilized water): as much as the baby needs on the flight, if traveling with an infant. The quantity may exceed the normal 1 liter limit for the transport of liquids. Baby food and milk do not need to be placed in a transparent bag like other liquids, but must be presented to airport security for inspection.

3.2. Liquid medicines

It is allowed to carry liquid medicines required by the passenger during the flight. It is also unnecessary to put medicines in a transparent bag, but they must be presented when checking.

4. Small musical instruments (violin, guitar).

Carriage of this type of baggage is a paid service, for a musical instrument you need to book a separate seat (as for a passenger) when purchasing an air ticket. In the booking section, find the options for additional services, select "Musical equipment", then - you must specify the number of items and the flight sector (one way, both sides). the free carry-on baggage allowance does not apply to the registered additional seat for carrying a musical instrument in the aircraft cabin.

Any musical instrument that does not fit into the carry-on baggage standards must be checked into the hold as checked baggage.

At the airport of departure, during the check-in, the passenger at the checkpoint before starting the procedure must remove the laptop and other electrical appliances from the hand luggage. Airport security checks them separately, while the passenger is being checked with a metal detector.

Where can I pick up my carry-on baggage after the end of the flight?

Those items of carry-on baggage that you checked in at the plane's ladder must be picked up on a luggage conveyor belt at the airport of arrival, where checked baggage is also delivered.

Baggage

Ryanair has a concept free surrendered (registered) baggage absent at all. Everything that you are going to carry as checked baggage on board this airline will have to be paid in advance, including as part of the "Priority & 2 Cabin Bags" service.

Rates include the cost of carriage for each piece of checked baggage. You can buy a baggage service:

  • together with the purchase of a ticket
  • at the time of check-in for the flight, but no later than 4 hours before the scheduled departure time
  • at the airport, no later than 40 minutes before the departure time

The first and second options are cheaper.

Something similar is found in the budget "Victory": it has no free baggage allowance at all, and standard baggage is not provided for in tickets at the fare. How much baggage can you carry at Pobeda ...

Ryanair baggage types: weight and size restrictions

  1. Hand luggage - dimensions 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, weight up to 10 kg
  2. Checked baggage - dimensions no more than 81 cm (height) x 119 cm x 119 cm, weight - 10 kg or 20 kg
  3. Excess baggage (excess) - dimensions no more than 81 cm (height) x 119 cm x 119 cm, weight up to 32 kg

How to buy additional baggage at Ryanair

1. If you have not purchased the Priority Boarding service

If your belongings do not fit in your 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm carry-on bag and you did not order priority boarding either (it allows you to take 2 bags), you must book a separate baggage service. In this case, we advise you to purchase a baggage service - a cheap 10-kilogram bag when booking your ticket or during check-in.

This baggage must be checked in at the check-in counter at the airport before you go through security at the airport.

2. If the size of the bag exceeds the dimensions (dimensions) according to the Ryanair standard

There are not many solutions, only two.

  1. First: the airline may refuse to carry such hand luggage and it will have to be left at the airport, in the storage room.
  2. Second: the airline can allow transportation, but you have to pay 50 euros for each piece of baggage. You need it ?!

To prevent this from happening, before checking in and boarding, check the dimensions of your carry-on and baggage - a special calibrator is installed at the check-in counter, where you need to place your bag to check the dimensions. But it is better, of course, to carry out the measurement procedure at home, using an ordinary tape measure.

How much should the checked baggage weigh?

  • Weight: norms - 10 kg and 20 kg
  • Dimensions - 81 cm x 119 cm x 119 cm

Excess baggage (additional)

  • weight - up to 32 kg
  • dimensions - up to 81 cm (height) x 119 cm x 119 cm

Pobeda Airlines: know your rights

Checked baggage: 10 kg bag

Such a baggage service can be purchased by passengers who have not bought priority boarding, which means that they can only carry a small bag 40x20x25 cm free of charge.Buying the service online (no later than 4 hours before the scheduled flight departure) or at the airport (no later than 40 minutes before departure), the bag must be checked in at the check-in counter. Upon arrival, this bag is then collected from the baggage carousel at the arrival airport.

Passengers who have purchased a Priority & 2 Cabin Bags or a Plus / Flexi / Family ticket or a connecting flight may take 1 small carry-on bag (40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm) on board, which must fit under the seat in front of the passenger.

Price: from 10 euros.

For passengers who have not purchased priority boarding, a bag of 10 kg will cost: at the check-in counter - 20 euros, at the boarding gate - 25 euros.

Checked baggage: 20 kg bag

Each passenger can purchase a baggage service - up to 3 checked bags of 20 kg each.

Price

Such a bag (20 kg) costs:

  • online with the original booking of the ticket - € 25 / £ 25
  • online after booking a ticket (no later than 4 hours before scheduled departure) - € 40 / £ 40
  • via Ryanair call center or airport ticket office (no later than 40 minutes before departure) - € 40 / £ 40 and more

The tariff provides for - carriage for 1 passenger, for one flight, one way.

Ryanair may also charge a higher price for baggage if the baggage service is purchased by the passenger through the Ryanair call center, at the airport ticket office, or during peak periods of flights, or on certain selected routes.

In order not to overpay, it is better to buy the necessary baggage service in advance when booking your ticket, while carefully checking the weight and dimensions of your own baggage before the flight.

Liquids in baggage

The liquids that you want to carry in your checked baggage must be in separate containers, the capacity of each liquid must not exceed 100 ml. All containers with liquids must be placed in one resealable plastic bag or special packaging, the volume is one liter.

All liquids are X-ray checked.

Ryanair has included in the list of liquid substances:

water, any drinks, soups, syrups; creams, oils, lotions, perfumes, mascara; aerosols; gels (including hair gel and shower gel); various liquids in containers under high pressure (including shaving foam, hair foam, deodorants); various pastes (including toothpaste); mixtures of various liquids and solids, etc.

Carriage of animals

Animals are not allowed in checked baggage or carry-on baggage.

How much does Ryanair extra baggage cost?

Ryanair: Baggage rates - fares (baggage fees)
Service: name / cost Online Payment at the airport
Checked bag € 25 / £ 25 € 40 / £ 40
Excess baggage fee (per kg) - € € 11 / £ 11
Fee for special declaration of valuable baggage - € € 50 / £ 50
Equipment for babies (car seat, cot) € 15 / £ 15 € 20 / £ 20
A bike € 60 / £ 60 € 75 / £ 75
Large sports item € 55 / £ 55 € 65 / £ 65
Sports Equipment € 35 / £ 35 € 40 / £ 40
Ski equipment € 45 / £ 45 50 / £ 50
Golf equipment € 35 / £ 35 € 40 / £ 40
Musical instrument € 55 / £ 55 € 65 / £ 65

Excess baggage

Luggage over the norm will be recognized overweight baggage which you booked(over 10 kg or 20 kg). In this case, you can purchase the excess baggage service weighing up to 32 kg, dimensions - 81 cm x 119 cm x 119 cm.

This service is provided only at the airport ticket office. Deadline - no later than 40 minutes before departure. Price (fee) for excess baggage - £ 11 / kg.

Oversized baggage

Sports equipment and musical instruments are examples of oversized luggage.

Passengers can carry sports equipment (equipment) and musical instruments as carry-on baggage (carry-on baggage) in the cabin, together with other checked baggage, if the weight of such items does not exceed 20 kg, and for bicycles - 30 kg.

The charge for the carriage of these items varies between 35-60 euros per unit, per flight, per passenger, one way - if you book the carriage of such baggage online. At the airport, the same service will cost 30% - 60% more: 40-75 euros.

Is it possible to buy a baggage service at the airport

Ryanair baggage service can be purchased at the airport ticket offices, but you should be aware that it is available no later than 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Another important nuance is that it is extremely unprofitable for a passenger to buy additional baggage at the airport - the price of such a service is 60% more expensive than online, when booking a ticket, or during online check-in for a flight. For example, 1 bag of luggage with an advance purchase online will cost 25 euros, at the airport you will have to pay 40 euros for the same bag. And if the dimensions of the bag will still exceed the norms established by the carrier, you will have to pay extra for oversized baggage - 50 euros / 1 bag.

Find out more on the topic.

Ryanair, the largest European low-cost airline, has set for January 15 the introduction of a new procedure for the carriage of hand luggage. Under this new concept, most passengers will have to check in their carry-on baggage before boarding the plane, according to Aviablogger.com.

The new system, most likely, has no analogues in the world yet. As a reminder, Ryanair now allows you to carry two items in the cabin - standard (55 × 40 × 20 centimeters) and small (35 × 20 × 20). The company has been complaining for a year that when the plane is full, there is not enough space in the cabin for all the bags. As a result, Ryanair decided that all standard bags will be checked in free of charge at the gate (not at the check-in counter!) From January 15th, and only small bags can be carried on board.

There will be exceptions to this rule. Both bags will be able to be carried by passengers who have chosen one of the baggage fares (Plus, Flexi Plus and Family Plus) or bought priority boarding (it costs 5 euros or pounds sterling at the time of booking and 6 euros or pounds later). There will be two queues at the boarding gate - for those eligible to carry both bags on board and everyone else.

In addition, Ryanair also has a carry-on baggage drop-off service at the check-in counter. It is very similar to what easyJet recently introduced and costs similarly - 5 euros or pounds sterling. However, unlike easyJet, which has this service available to everyone, on Ryanair flights it can only be used by passengers who have previously purchased regular checked baggage.

As for regular baggage, Ryanair has also changed its fares. The 15 kilogram bag option is no longer available - only the 20 kilogram version is available, while its price has been reduced to the level of the previous 15 kilogram bag tariff. The standard 20 kg bag now costs 25 euros or pounds at the time of booking and 40 euros or pounds later. On peak days or on long-distance resort routes (Canary Islands, Greece, etc.), the price increases by 10 euros or pounds. However, on domestic flights, baggage is much cheaper - for example, inside Germany, a bag at the time of booking can cost 11.9 euros, inside Spain - 15-16 euros, within the UK or between the UK and Ireland - 10 pounds or euros, and so on.

The reduction in baggage rates, Ryanair claims, will cost the company € 50 million annually and is aimed at encouraging the purchase of baggage instead of carry-on baggage in order to further reduce the volume of the latter. An excess of carry-on luggage, according to the company, leads to an increase in boarding time and flight delays. However, the carrier does not seem to blame the flight delays on its strange new system of dividing passengers flying together without paying for the choice of seat. Recall that it led to the fact that separated passengers tend to change seats during the landing process, greatly delaying the departure of the aircraft.

As a result, flying Ryanair with luggage became a little cheaper. However, those passengers who do not want to part with their carry-on luggage during the flight will have to pay more from January 15 or take into account that their carry-on luggage will eventually end up in the luggage compartment. Therefore, you cannot put fragile and valuable things there (and you still cannot put more than 100 milliliters of liquid!), And you will have to pick it up on the luggage belt at the airport of arrival.

What is hand luggage, in general, is clear from the name itself. This is the baggage that the passenger can take on the plane at no additional charge. In case you are traveling light, this is a great way to save money on buying space in your luggage. Different airlines have different rules for the carriage of such baggage. They largely depend on the status of the company and its internal rules.

From November 1, 2017, Ryanair has introduced new rules for hand luggage. In this text, we will understand all the most important nuances: permissible weight and dimensions, what is prohibited and what is allowed to carry, and how hand luggage is checked at the airport.

Ryanair is a low-cost company. This means that she sells tickets at the lowest possible price and provides a minimum of service for this, but you have to pay for additional services. The allowed free carry-on baggage size is 55 x 40 x 20cm. In this case, the weight of the bag should not exceed 10 kg.

In addition to this "big" bag, you can take another smaller one on board. Its permissible dimensions are 35 x 20 x 20 cm. Weight in this case is not measured.

For parents who travel with babies, the norms are a little freer - you can take an additional 5 kg for each child. In addition, you can take a car seat and a folding stroller on the plane, but in any case you have to hand them over at the entrance to the plane, there is no space in the cabin.

Please note that if you have not purchased the Priority Boarding service, you will not be allowed to take your hand luggage on board - the airport employees will pick it up from the gangway and give it out only at the end of the flight, these are the company's internal rules. It will be possible to take only a small handbag on the plane itself, take this into account when collecting things, or order Priority Boarding in advance. The price of this service is about 5 euros, at the airport it is more expensive.

What can and cannot be carried in carry-on baggage?

The most problematic point that is most often encountered at airports is liquids. Each passenger can only take 1 liter of liquid with them. At the same time, it must be poured into bottles, each of which does not exceed 100 ml in volume, and the bottles, in turn, must be packed in a transparent bag. According to the rules that operate in almost all countries of the world, literally everything belongs to liquids: plain water, toothpaste, cosmetics, perfumes, creams, and some products. The only exception to this rule is drinks or goods that were bought in duty free already on the territory of the airport.

A European Commission regulation has established a list of things that must never be taken with you on the plane:

  • Firearms and, in general, any device from which you can shoot. This item even includes toy and educational models, as well as various imitations. The ban is valid even if the passenger has documents and a weapon permit.
  • Explosive and flammable substances.
  • Any stun devices. Firecrackers, firecrackers and other things that can somehow stun others.
  • Military ammunition.
  • Cold weapons and any objects with sharp edges. This item may also include common nail scissors, pocket knives, and other potentially dangerous items. What exactly to treat them at each specific airport is decided by the employees.
  • Work tools that can threaten the danger of others. The principle is the same as in the previous paragraph. This can include, for example, a screwdriver.
  • Blunt objects. In general, anything can be taken away from you, which could potentially injure other passengers.

How is carry-on baggage checked?

To begin with, all luggage is weighed during check-in. Next, they check the dimensions: in large international airports, most often there is a kind of framework. This is a metal mold where you should place your bag after weighing. The carry-on baggage must fit inside, no matter which side you do it.

If the carry-on baggage does not fit in this frame, the passenger will have to pay. The fine for exceeding the norms is 50 euros.

Sometimes passengers are lucky and carry-on luggage is not measured in any way, but you should not rely on such luck. It is in the interests of the low-cost airline for the passenger to pay extra for exceeding the norms, so they are checked carefully.

What to do if the carry-on baggage is too large?

It often happens that already at the airport there is more carry-on baggage than the airline allows. Of course, the situation is not pleasant, but you can find a way out of it. There are several options:

  • Pay 50 euros. If your luggage greatly exceeds the airline's norms, then there is only one way out - to pay a fine. Yes, this amount is often twice the price of the ticket itself, so it is better to check in advance if your luggage complies with the rules. If not, it's better to buy space for a large suitcase right away.
  • If the excess is small, you can solve this situation in another way. Get clothes out of your bags that you can put on right away or just put in your pockets. Try to choose heavy things, they can be removed immediately after registration, the main thing is to go through the control.
  • As already mentioned, in addition to a large bag, you can carry another 20 x 35 cm on the plane. If this bag is free, then some of the things can be thrown there, especially something small and heavy.
